【SPEECH】Exploring Economics Through Fun Facts and Fresh Perspectives

Written by Edeline Sumartha

On April 25, 2025, the IBBA105 Economics II class resumed after midterm week with a special guest lecture led by a familiar face: Professor David Emanuel Andersson. Having previously taught Economics I to the same batch, Professor David’s return to the classroom felt like a small homecoming for the students.

Returning to the classroom after the midterm break brought a quiet shift in energy. Without the pressure of exams, students settled back into academic life at a gentler pace, ready to absorb new ideas and perspectives for the remainder of the semester.

In this lecture, Professor David guided the class through the topic of Economic Growth, offering a fresh economic perspective as the second half of the semester began.

Bringing back his signature teaching style, Professor David brings the lecture with his well-known "fun facts," adding a light and lively touch to the session. Throughout the lecture, each slide of the presentation was paired with a random fun fact—ranging from global economic trends to the professor’s personal experiences around the world.

"It was nice to see some familiar faces again," Professor David shared, reflecting on the experience of returning to the classroom this semester.

His return brought continuity to the course while offering students the opportunity to hear different viewpoints on economic concepts.

As the IBBA program moves further into the semester, students are reminded that every perspective—old or new—adds depth to the study of economics. Here’s to more sessions filled with new knowledge, fresh ideas, and perhaps a few more fun facts!
