My name is Selmeg, and I am from Russia. Before joining the International Business MBA (IBMBA) program at National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), I completed my bachelor's degree at National Chung Cheng University (CCU), majoring in Foreign Languages and Literature. One of the main reasons I chose IBMBA was its strong international atmosphere. Compared to my previous university, which had a more local focus, IBMBA offers the opportunity to meet and learn from people of different cultural backgrounds. This diversity makes the program not only academically enriching but also personally rewarding. Another factor that attracted me to IBMBA was its business-oriented curriculum. Even though my background is not in business, I find it essential to understand subjects like economics, finance, and marketing in today's world. Business knowledge is valuable in almost any career, and IBMBA provides an excellent foundation for that. Engaging and Practical Courses The courses in IBMBA are both interesting and highly useful. Some of them, like Financial Management and Managerial Economics in this semester (113-2), are completely new to me, but I find them practical for future career preparation. What makes the learning experience even better is the way professors encourage students to think critically and explore different perspectives. For example, in our International Business course, our professor gave us the task of promoting a local area (Cijin). However, instead of giving us strict guidelines, she told us: "This is your business—it's your choice to decide how to do it." This flexibility makes the learning process more fun. In business, there is no single formula like a recipe to follow for success—every entrepreneur has their own unique story. IBMBA in Three Words If I had to describe the IBMBA program in three words, they would be: Open – The program is accessible and welcoming. Once you join, you can easily gain knowledge and new ideas because classmates and teachers are so nice and willing to share their experiences. Diverse – People come from many different countries, creating a multicultural environment where you can learn about global perspectives. Fun – The program is about business, and business cannot be taught by simply telling you to do this or that. It is really flexible. You can think outside the box—there is no specific solution. Advice for Future Applicants If you're considering applying to IBMBA, I strongly recommend it as a great opportunity to expand your horizons. You’ll meet people from all over the world and engage in discussions that inspire you. My personal advice is to be open to communication and socializing with classmates, including local students. This program is not just about academics, it’s also about building connections with other people. IBMBA has already been an incredible journey for me, and I’m excited for what’s ahead!
