International Business National Sun Yat-sen University

Mr. Dennie Hsieh, IBMBA & KEDGE dual award Alumni (Class of 2017)

IB106 Dennie Hsieh would choose International Business MBA in the first place because the program offered a lot of course options. Of all the courses that IBMBA offered, Dennie Hsieh said that he enjoyed the course of "International Business Management", which the teacher would use different teaching methods such as group discussion, role-playing, class debate and case analysis to let students understand how the real business world work.

Besides, the course of " Seminar in Business Management " also enriched his student life. Lectures and hand-on practices made his learning much more effective. Dennie Hsieh mentioned that through this course, he visited a company in semiconductor industry and observed its environment and plants. After that trip, he understood the positioning and the dilemma of the company.

As a first student who join KEDGE dual degree program, he benefited a lot from the course of " Global Logistics Function " in Bordeaux campus. Through this course, he understood the logistics-related technologies and the operation of the supply chain. What’s more, he also learned how companies could use logistics to improve business efficiency. In the final report, Dennie Hsieh cooperated with team members and presented a series of complete logistics planning reports, which was impressive.

When he first arrived in France, Dennie Hsieh said that he could not immediately get used to the local administrative efficiency and the time concept in France, so he took a while to adapt. Despite a lot of tough times, Dennie Hsieh still managed to roll with the punches and overcame many language barriers and accommodation problems. Having visited 13 countries and 33 cities, Dennie Hsieh said that his favorite was London city. Not only was the scene exhilarating, but the rich history and humanities are also fascinating.

Dennie Hsieh shared his experience in French. He found that international students not only had their own ideas, but also dared to express them. The lively class discussion was different from the learning atmosphere in Asia. Dennie Hsieh wanted to encourage future IB students to devote to foreign language learning, so that they would have enough proficiency to study abroad and live independently

"The international perspective is not about remembering the stereotypes of each country." Dennie Hsieh said that the most valuable lesson he learned from France was not to judge a book by its cover. Making friends with students from different countries, Dennie Hsieh learned that clips of information could not represent the whole nation and the country ‘s culture. Only after having a deep understanding with other international students, one could have a more realistic and profound understanding about other countries.
