[Kaohsiung, March 4, 2026]

On April 9th, 2026, the IBBA208 Management Information Systems class at the National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) IBBA program welcomed a special guest speaker, Dr. Joyce Lee, Associate Professor at National Chengchi University. Dr. Lee delivered an engaging lecture on “Information Systems for Rural Development,” emphasizing how modern management information systems (MIS) can support sustainable growth and improve the quality of life in remote communities. She shared practical examples of MIS applications that enhance efficiency, decision-making, and connectivity in regions that traditionally face infrastructural challenges.

Adding to the session, Alvin Yang, a second-year PhD student from National Chengchi University, presented his ongoing research project on applying MIS solutions specifically to remote and aboriginal areas. His presentation offered students a firsthand look at current research initiatives and real-world applications of information systems in challenging environments.

Students actively engaged in discussions, asking questions about the strategic, social, and ethical considerations of implementing MIS in rural development. Many remarked on the practical relevance of the talk and the inspiration it provided for leveraging technology to create social impact. The IBBA program at NSYSU continues to provide students with unique learning experiences by connecting them with leading academics and researchers, fostering both academic growth and global perspectives.
