《113-1 SA Event》Chilling and Connecting: Shaved Ice Day Brings Students Together

Taiwanese shaved ice (刨冰 or 剉冰) is a delicious dessert that Taiwanese eat during the scorching heat of summer. It was an excellent chance for students to learn more about Taiwanese cuisine by eating at local restaurants. The 113-1 Students Association of International Programs took advantage of this opportunity to organize an activity that offered the chance to sample a popular Taiwanese dessert and establish new friendships.

On September 25, this year, our students from IBMBA and GHRM had a fantastic time bonding and getting to know new friends through the 'Shaved Ice Day' activity. They not only savored the delectable shaved ice, but also participated in activities aimed at fostering social connections. In an effort to foster community and connection, students recently enjoyed a delightful afternoon of shaved ice and engaging social connection activities. The event provided a perfect opportunity for participants to meet new friends while savoring a variety of refreshing flavors.

As students gathered, laughter and conversations filled the air, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Eating shaved ice together proved to be an excellent icebreaker, allowing students to share stories and form new bonds.

Following the sweet treat, attendees participated in a set of social interaction activities designed to enhance their communication skills. We blindfolded the attendees and randomly sat them in front of each other, allowing them to get to know everyone, including our esteemed professor, Professor Timo Eccarius, who graciously attended our activity. The activity allowed them to have a conversation while drawing a person in front of them, which encouraged them to interact with one another and create a relaxing atmosphere. The activity not only strengthened friendships, but also fostered creativity and self-reflection through the drawings of others.

The success of this event highlights the importance of creating spaces for students to connect together. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the students and professor Timo who participated in this activity as members of the Students Association. Their presence and enthusiasm were truly invaluable, contributing significantly to the success of the event. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to seeing our students join us at our next events.
